Our perennial favorite event is back for your enlightenment and fun! For wine beginners our Wine 101 event is a great way to learn some of the simple secrets of evaluating and truly enjoying all the sniffing, swirling and, of course, tasting of different wines.
For the more experienced; you know that there is always something new to discover and learn in the world of wine, and you also know that it's always an enjoyment doing it!
Thus, Wine 101 is for wine curiousseurs and connoisseurs alike.
The dowstairs Wine Room at Sonsie is the ideal setting for this intimate foray into the world of 
wine. Sourrounded by a glass-walled wine cellar, a wine bar and cozy tables, we'll spend the first half of the evening in a "classroom" type setting where we'll be expertly guided*** on this journey in the fun of wine tasting.
During the second half of the evening we'll break into a casual walk-around setting and have a chance to taste more wines, mix and mingle and share our own "I first discovered wine when..." stories - or whatever you want to talk about. Everyone's experiences are part of the learning process!
Of course, great tasting hors d'oeuvres from Sonsie's kitchen will be served paired with the wines.
*** Our wine educator for the evening is Mark Leighton. Mark possesses and incredible sense of smell 
and taste and he can detect and articulate the essense of a wine's character in an interesting, educational and entertaining fashion. He has traveled to many wine regions of the world and claims France as his favorite. Mark also teaches wine tasting classes at Cambridge and Brookline Adult Education Centers, and if you ever shop for wine at Marty's in Newton you will probably find Mark there ready to help you choose the right wine.
*** This is a very special and unique Wine 101 as we'll be featuring mid and high-end wines from Wattle Creek Winery in California. We are also very privileged to have joining us Mr. Michael Scholz, Wattle Creek Vineyards Winemaker, who will be sharing his passion and personal insights regarding the vineyards, operations, production and harvests that are all part of the creation of the wines we'll be tasting.
This will be an exceptional event, indeed.
