SAKE 101 | FOOD PAIRING

MONDAY AUGUST 27, 2007

6:30-8:30PM :: $69/PERSON

Sakebottle1.jpgYou are invited to join Boston Uncorked for our first-ever educational sake and Japanese cuisine tasting!  This intimate "Sake 101" event will introduce you to a unique segment of the world of wine: rice wine

Have you ever wondered how to taste sake, and how it is made and processed?  Did you know that quality sake is typically served chilled, not hot?

The ultimate place in Boston for this experience is O ya  in the Leather District.  O ya recently won two Best of Boston awards from Boston Magazine: Best New Restaurant and Best Sushi.  Proprietors Tim and Nancy Cushman have received rave reviews for both their cuisine and the sophisticatedly hip renovation they've done to their location in a former firehouse on East Street.

We'll be guided by the expertise of Nancy, who is a trained sake sommelier, so get ready for a true immersion.

After checking in to the event, you will start with a sparkling sake Nancy provides as an introduction to Sake 101.  Next, you will enjoy four stations serving cedar, junmai and junmai ginjo sake paired with skewers of chicken and salmon and a selection of nigiri sushi.  To finish, you'll try an 8 year aged sake served with blue cheese.  Japanese snacks and edemane will also be served.

Boston Uncorked will be all about O ya on this night, as the restaurant is normally closed Mondays.  So, it's O ya all for us - oh yeah!

Save the date for August 27th, as we plan to knock your socks off and...
